LG announces 11.6-inch Android Tab Book with Intel Core i5 CPU, 4GB RAM

LG has announced its hybrid device called the Android Tab Book in South Korea. Pricing and availability have yet to be revealed, while the fate of the device outside Korea is also not known yet.

The Tab Book will feature an 11.6-inch full HD IPS display with 10-point touch control and a slideout QWERTY keypad.   Earlier this year at CES, LG had launched the Tab Book Ultra which was a Windows 8.1 powered hybrid device. The Android Tab Book looks similar to it but of course, it sports the Android 4.2.2 OS. For a latest device with high-end internals, that is quite a dated Android version. We hope that there is an OTA Android KitKat update in the pipeline.

LG Android Tab Book (model no. 11TA740-GA50K) comes with an Intel Core i5-4200U CPU which is a dual-core hyper-threaded processor clocked at 1.6GHz with a maximum turbo boost clock of 2.6GHz. It houses Intel HD4400 integrated graphics. The CPU is paired with 4GB of RAM in a single RAM slot.

On the storage front, you have a 128GB SSD with support for microSD card as well. The Tab Book is 16.7mm thick and weighs 1.05kg. There are two USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI port.
