From Paul the Octopus to the streets of Rio, Google Doodles have been a canvas for a World Cup inspired homepage. We’ve saved them all for your viewing pleasure.
1) Pre-World Cup: This homepage started off the week and came in time for the Brazil vs Croatia opener.
Day One (Thursday, June 12): The opening ceremony was so inspiring the Google Doodle paid homage with a dancing tree ‘l’ and a drum playing ‘e’.
Day Two (Friday, June 13): Practice makes perfect. Day two saw Google’s ‘l’ working on its’ football skills bouncing the ball on its’ head.
Day Three (Saturday, June 14): showed a jungle themed pitch inspired by the England vs Italy game.
Day Four (Sunday, June 15): Google Doodles’ version of Brazilian life.
Day Five (Monday, June 16): ‘The Google Wave’. Day five showed the Google letters doing a Mexican wave, featuring an unimpressed ‘l’.
Day Six (Tuesday, June 17): Paul the Octopus, perhaps the most famous of all psychic marine life, was shown trying to make his prediction on the Belgium vs Algeria match.
Day Seven (Wednesday, June 18): Today’s homepage took its inspiration straight from the streets of Rio showing the ‘l’ practicing football on Brazil’s famous favelas.
