40000 Xiaomi Redmi 1S units going up for sale via Flipkart this Tuesday

Flipkart and Xiaomi will be selling 40000 Redmi 1S units come this Tuesday, that’s on September 2, with the hope of leaving behind the drama over the Mi 3 order cancellations. Flipkart Digiflip Pro ET701, XT911 and XT811 Intel-powered tablets: Quick read

The Flipkart Digiflip Pro ET701, XT911 and XT811 tablets with Intel processors under their hoods are the latest from India’s very own Amazon rival. The online retailer is so hot at present, Samsung decided to join the list of companies awarding it with exclusives and give it the Galaxy S5 mini for its very own.



Prior to the newest launches, Flipkart rolled out the Digiflip Pro XT712 in June for Rs 9999. The ET701 lowers the price bar by selling for just Rs 5999 on the website, while the XT811 and XT911 are priced at Rs 10999 and Rs 15999, in that order. We will also be seeing two other tablets going by the names XT801 and XT901, up for sale in the future.

Starting with the Digiflip Pro ET701 tablet which shows off a 7-inch form factor, you get a 1024 x 600 pixel IPS touchscreen panel and a 1.2GHz dual core Atom Z2520 processor with it. Being a low-end tablet, we’re sure you didn’t expect more than 1GB of RAM, microSD card support, 8GB ROM and Wi-Fi. Also on offer is a 2MP main camera, VGA webcam and 2800mAh battery.

You have the option of grabbing it in the color red, blue, gray or white. Next comes the Digiflip Pro XT911 with an 8.9-inch full HD display and 3G as well as Wi-Fi connectivity. If you are satisfied with only Wi-Fi, then its XT901 version should do nicely for you. In terms of specifications, there’s a 2GHz dual core Atom Z2580 chip and 2GB of RAM under the hood.

Oppo Find 7 Now Exclusively Available Online via Flipkart

Oppo India on Tuesday announced a partnership with Flipkart to sell its smartphone devices on the e-commerce platform.
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer said the company's entire range launched in India thus far, will be available to online customers via Flipkart from Tuesday. Notably, this list includes the Oppo Find 7 (Review | Pictures) - famous for its QHD display - which is now exclusively available via Flipkart.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Tom Lu, CEO, Oppo Mobiles India, said "We have been striving to come closer to our customers and become a part of the society. With more and more consumers going online, having a digital presence has become a must. Flipkart is definitely one of the most popular shopping platforms with a very loyal customer base and by partnering with them, we are sure Oppo's smartphones will reach out to more customers. With our products, Indian customers will get a chance to experience the best in innovation, the way many customers have enjoyed globally."

Besides the famous Oppo N1 and the Oppo Find 7 smartphones, the brand's current India portfolio includes the Oppo R1, Oppo Find 5 Mini, Oppo Neo, Oppo Yoyo, Oppo Joy, Oppo Neo 3, Oppo Find 7a and the Oppo N1 Mini that was launched earlier this month at Rs. 26,990.

The Oppo Find 7 was launched alongside the Find 7a in June, though the former only became available on retail shelves in July.

Xiaomi Redmi 1S: Flipkart begins pre-booking for Rs 5,999 phone – Book here!

Close on the heels of the success of the Xiaomi Mi3, Flipkart today began the pre-booking registrations for the budget smartphone Xiaomi Redmi 1S on this link – Flipkart Xiaomi Redmi 1S. The new Xiaomi Redmi 1S sports a 1.6 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with Cortex-A7 core, 8 mega-pixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and 28mm wide angle lens, and front camera with 1.6 mega-pixels. The pre-booking registrations that began on August 26 will end on September 1 midnight, after which the phone will be launched.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S also boasts of a 4.7 inch, 1280 x 720 display, WCDMA slot for 3G and GSM slot for 2G data, RAM of 1 GB and 8GB Flash memory. The Redmi 1S comes with Mini SIM slot, and not Micro SIM slot. It reportedly runs on Android Jelly Bean.

Asus Zenfone 4 A450CG smartphone is on pre-order through Flipkart for Rs 6999

The Asus ZenFone 4 A450CG which has gone up for pre-order on Flipkart as well as the upcoming Redmi 1S both appear ready to give the Moto E a run for its money. The Asus phone is pegged at the same price as the Xiaomi handset, that’s Rs 6999. You’ll know about the ZenFone 4 not being the same as the previously released one just by looking at their model numbers.

Moto G's bet on e-commerce worked, more launches ahead

Tech giant Motorola today said its strategy of using only the e-commerce route, instead of the traditional brick-and-mortar stores, has worked in its favour as validated by competitors who are now adopting similar ways to sell their devices online.



Motorola, which launched its 'Moto G' smartphone in India through Flipkart in February, was among the first players in the world's second most populous market to exclusively adopt the online route to sell its devices.

Since then, other players like Xiaomi, Asus and Alcatel have opted for a similar model, launching devices exclusively through select e-commerce firms like Flipkart and Snapdeal.

"The success of Moto G validates that our strategy was spot on. Many more people are now using e-commerce (to sell devices) and many more will come on board. We have the first mover advantage," Motorola India General Manager Amit Boni told PTI.

Since then, Motorola has launched two other devices -- Moto E and Moto X -- exclusively through Flipkart.

"We have a significant portfolio coming up. India is one of the most important markets for us and pretty soon, we will have more devices here," Boni said, adding that business in India is doing "phenomenally well".

The US-based firm is scheduled to launch a new device on September 5 but did not disclose any details of the event.

According to reports, the company may launch successors of the Moto X and Moto G alongside its much-awaited Moto 360 smartwatch.

After being acquired by Google in May 2012, Motorola Mobility stopped introducing new products in India. However, the firm continued with its operation in the Indian market.

Affordable handsets Moto E and Moto G, alongside mid-range Moto X, have seen impressive response from buyers in India and helped the firm compete with the likes of Samsung, Micromax and Nokia.

India is the fastest growing smartphone market in Asia Pacific, growing at 84% year-on-year to 18.42 million units in Q2 2014 from 10.02 million units (in April-June 2013 quarter), according to research firm IDC.

Samsung led the Indian smartphone market with 29% share, followed by Micromax 18%, Karbonn 8% and Lava six%.

In a sensation of sorts, Xiaomi has made a flash sale of its fourth batch of smartphones which were opened for sale online by retailer Flipkart at 2 pm and was sold in just 2.4 seconds. That’s all! All 20,000 devices were sold out in seconds earning Rs.27,99,80,000 in a flash.



That means Rs.28 crore worth sales of Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone by Flipkart in 2.4 seconds. This is the future of online retail sale and Flipkart is excelling in it despite Amazon’s entry recently. Flipkart claims to have sold 15000 Xiaomi Mi 3 units in just 2 seconds

Flipkart held its third flash sale for the Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone earlier today and guess what – A total of 15000 units got sold in just 2 seconds. That’s the entire inventory gone in the blink of an eye and the large number of buyers also managed to overpower Flipkart servers, causing the website to crash.

It’s certainly an achievement to be able to sell out that many devices in so little time. However, 2 seconds seems to be over exaggerated, don’t you think? Certainly, it’ll take people more than a minute to complete their orders, unless this estimate is based on the amount of time taken for customers to click on the buy now button, resulting in all 15000 units showing as sold out.

The latest sale has surpassed the previous two where 10000 units were offered each time. On the first attempt, it took Flipkart under 40 minutes to clear its inventory, while the second flash sale got over in just 5 seconds. Celkon Signature Two A500 launched at Rs 5999 as Flipkart exclusive

A brand new Celkon Signature Two A500 Android KitKat 4.4 phone with dual SIM support has made its debut as a Flipkart exclusive for Rs 5999 in India. ‘KitKat’ featuring in the specs list of cheap handsets does not startle us any more because manufacturers big and small are thankfully toeing the line when it comes to using the latest version of Google’s mobile OS.

Xiaomi Mi3 goes back on sale tomorrow with 15,000 units on Flipkart

Xiaomi will be putting on sale the third batch of Mi3 smartphones on Flipkart tomorrow, and it has officially announced the number of units available on Twitter, in an attempt to make the buying experience a lot smoother than the first two rounds. Registrations for the third round of sales will be open until midnight tonight.

Xiaomi is using Raksha Bandhan as a stage for pitching its next round of smartphones, with the official tweet saying “Make this Raksha Bandhan a special one for your sister”. However, Xiaomi is releasing just 15,000 units, which means there’s a good chance that many would go empty-handed.

Xiaomi has reportedly sold over 20,000 phones in India since it was launched on July 22. The first day, it reportedly went off shelves within 40 minutes, while the second batch sold in five seconds. Even with the evident demand, Xiaomi has been releasing meagre units, much to the frustration of the masses.

At just Rs 13,999, it packs a Snapdragon 800, which is by far the cheapest high-end phone available in the market. It competes with the likes of the Nexus 5, Galaxy S4, Xperia Z at nearly half the price. 

Mi 3 second batch gets sold-out in 5 seconds on Flipkart

Thanks to some weird sales methodology used by Flipkart during the second round of the Mi 3 sales, the Xiaomi phone was sold out in a matter of just five seconds.

While the e-retailer is yet to officially state how the phone was sold out so fast, some user reports suggest that Flipkart automatically added the phone to the shopping cart of the registered (for the sale) Flipkart consumers, who had the Mi 3 product page open at 2PM, thus immediately empting the majority of the available stock.

Flipkart and Xiaomi have stated the next Mi 3 sale will be happening on August 5 and the interested consumers can register for the sale at Flipkart beginning 6PM today.

To remind you, amid the site errors, the first batch of Mi 3 was sold out in around 38 minutes last week.

There is still no word on the availability of Mi 3 accessories, which were expected to go on sale after a week of Mi 3 launch but the accessories are still being shown as coming soon at e-retailer.

Xiaomi Mi 3 to go on sale again via Flipkart tomorrow

The Xiaomi Mi 3 sold faster than hot cakes when it went on sale last week through Flipkart and new inventory is expected to arrive at the ecommerce website tomorrow. So that would make today the last day to register for Tuesday’s sale as limited stock will be up for grabs this time again.



And if you miss out on tomorrow, you might have to wait an entire week (or more) before new inventory is brought in. The initial batch of Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphones sold out in just about 40 minutes. The retailer hasn’t disclosed just how many units were made available, but it did mention that registrations went beyond 100000.

At Rs 13999, the handset is basically a steal as it offers high-end components with a sturdy design. The front features a 5-inch 1080p screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, while the body is crafted from plastic with a metallic finish.

Android 4.4 KitKat comes out of the box and is layered with a highly customizable MIUI V5 interface. And the star of the show is a 2.3GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 SOC, delivering flagship-class performance at the price of a mid-range phone.

Flipkart launches e-learning category

Homegrown online marketplace Flipkart Wednesday announced the launch of its E-learning category.

With over 1900 products and titles, this category will offer an exhaustive range of E-learning material, certification courses and online tests catering to students with a variety of requirements, Flipkart said in a release.

With this announcement, Flipkart will be extending its virtual academic books category to feature a selection of offerings for students in schools, colleges as well as those students appearing for competitive exams, it added.

Flipkart said study material from reputed brands like Career Launcher, Edurite, EduKart, Merit Nation, TCY Online and Practice Guru, will be a part of this selection.

Also, Flipkart will continue to expand its E-learning portfolio with exclusive offerings for students with varied needs, it stated.

"The availability of eBooks, certificate courses and online tests - all on one platform, will make the entire process of buying/accessing e-learning material very easy for students who form a significant part of our customer base today," Flipkart Senior Director (Retail) Nipun Mehra said.      

Demand for Xiaomi Mi 3 sends Flipkart site crashing

 Overwhelming demand for Chinese smartphone Xiaomi Mi3 on the first day of its sale caused the product page of e-commerce site Flipkart, its exclusive retailer in India, to crash.

Despite the glitches, Xiaomi, which entered India on July 15, said it sold the entire Mi 3 stock in 38 minutes and 50 seconds.

The crash, a little after noon on Tuesday, a few minutes after booking opened, prevented several customers from completing their orders.

The same thing had happened during the exclusive launch of MotoG and MotoE phones earlier.

According to Flipkart, the site received 100,000 registrations for the phone during the July 15-21 registration period.

“Based on the response we saw during the registration phase, we had anticipated a traffic spike and had scaled up our web services accordingly. But the number of customers who logged in immediately after the phone went live on our site caused the process to slow down for a while,” said the Flipkart spokesperson.

“We got about 100,000 registrations for the Mi3. We sold out within the first 30 minutes,” the spokesperson claimed.

Xiaomi Mi 3, which is priced at ₹13,999 on Flipkart, is pitted against Google’s Nexus handset.

Apologising to fans who couldn’t purchase the Mi 3 today, Manu Jain, India Operations Head, Xiaomi, said: “We underestimated the demand we would receive and we are taking steps to ramp up the supply as soon as possible.”

“We are working with Flipkart to ensure the purchase experience is improved further and technical issues are resolved,” he added.

The Flipkart spokesperson added: “We are expanding our capacity to provide a smoother shopping experience the next time.”

Though the company declined to comment on the number of units sold, it said it would be getting the phone back in stock next week.

Jain added that Xiaomi would ensure that customers who missed out on today’s sale are automatically registered to buy an Mi 3 during the next sale on July 29. 

Xiaomi Mi 3 Appears Via Flipkart Teaser Ahead of Tuesday Launch

Xiaomi comes from the long line of Chinese handset makers who have come a long way from their own native countries to tap into the exciting Indian smartphone market. However, there's more big news to follow up on. 



As it seems from reports, Xiaomi, similar to the likes of Motorola and Asus before it, is set to team up with Indian e-retailing giant Flipkart to launch its new Mi 3 handset in the country. The new has been derived via a number of tweets revealing that the smartphone will be sold only via its website. 

While the first tweet for the same says, "Gripping pace, artistic merit, a vibrant display! Coming soon exclusively on Flipkart," the next one comes accompanied by a teaser image that somewhat reveals the handset. 

Apparently, the image shows a tagline "Accelerate your life." And if you remember correctly, the Xiaomi India site uses the same "Accelerate your life" tagline on the Mi 3 smartphone listing page. 

To recap on the specs of the smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 3 sports a 5-inch IPS display offering a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and 441ppi pixel density with Corning Gorilla glass protection. 

It is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM 8974AB) processor coupled with 2GB DDR3 RAM and it runs a custom interface dubbed MIUI that is a very different take on Android. 

The smartphone also features a high-end camera modules. You will find a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, Sony Exmor BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 1080p full HD video recording along with a 2MP front-facing camera with similar specs as the rear camera.
