In line with what
we heard earlier this month and following leaked photos of the
device that surfaced last week, a new
report from SamMobile claims that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Alpha on August 4th. Despite
being an all-metal smartphone, the Galaxy Alpha will not positioned as a
premium device alongside the flagship Galaxy S5, but rather as a mid-tier
variant that uses a mix of high-end and mid-range hardware.
According to the report, Samsung will launch the Galaxy Alpha
earlier in August to allow for hype surrounding the smartphone to die down by
the end of the month. The reason for that move is because Samsung is expected
to unveil the more important Galaxy Note 4 in
September, which is perhaps the second most important device in its smartphone
lineup next to the Galaxy S.
The medal-clad Samsung Galaxy Alpha is rumored to have a 4.8-inch
720p display, 32 GB non-removable internal storage and a fingerprint scanner.
