The newest character customization video released by Insomniac Games, the people behind the upcoming Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive, looks like serious business.
It has been so long since we came across a game that offered so many ways to personalize your character, in ways that would let you depict how you actually want to look, when the apocalypse is right around the corner. The game offers tons of costumes, apparels and other elements to design your character, so that you literally won’t be wearing the same thing the next day.
From what we saw in the video, it definitely looks like the developers were too serious about the outfits, that they made hundreds of them that can be mismatched until you get the perfect look. Whatever you ask for, be it, gloves, hair styles, shirts or anything that is related to your character, it will be in the game. The developers opine that this will finally allow them to give players the much needed platform where they could forget the real world and live in a virtual world, where anything goes.
Unlimited Customization
According to the official statement from the developers, Sunset Overdrive is going to be one crazy affair, where there will be lots of new monsters to kill, but the key difference that sets the game apart from its competitors is its ability to let you kill the monsters in style. The story line is set in a location which is completely abandoned and the world has literally come to an end. People consume a random drink named Overcharge Delirium XT which turns them into monsters and the non-drinkers are supposed to bring them down.
The game lets you customize your character so that you look unique in this co-op multiplayer title, where multiple friends can hop into the same game. It lets you customize your face and body the way you desire. Some categories include hair, face, shirts, jackets, gloves, tattoos, pants and shoes. Each one of them is part of your body and the wackier you get with them, the easier you will be identified, in the map, among other players, who might have many insane looks of their own.
Bringing on the Personality
“We wanted to make sure players had every freedom of choice to make their character look as they wanted it to be. It is more than just a character, because after playing for many hours, people would automatically feel close to the online persona. We had everything under the sleeve, but we did reject some ideas that sounded too crazy to fit in to the Sunset Overdrive world,” said the developers at Insomnia Games. The costumes are inspired by European, American club couture, British punk, Tokyo street fashion and other parts of the world where such freak fashion exists, in abundant quantity. The developers want everyone to know that they are not going all American, but rather wanted to bring the world under one roof where everything goes. Each costume has also been designed to match the body type, to make it more person specific, claims the team.
