Gigabyte Intros 11.6” Lightweight Laptop Q21

By on 12:20

On Tuesday, Gigabyte launched the Q21, a "light and affordable" notebook with an 11.6-inch screen. The big selling point here is that this laptop supposedly provides a dual storage system including an mSATA and a 2.5-inch hard drive. The notebook is also expected to have a very low price point.

The specifications show that there are a number of configurations. The screen itself will have a 1366 x 768 resolution powered by an Intel Celeron N2930 Processor (1.83 GHz, 2.17 GHz) or an Intel Celeron N2807 Processor (1.58 GHz, 2.17 GHz) and integrated Intel HD graphics. There is also 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB of DDR3L memory in one slot, depending on the model (8 GB max).

The specifications also list an HD webcam mounted in the screen, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, Wireless N and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, two speakers, a Kensington lock and a Li-ion 3-cell 24 Wh battery. The ports include one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI output, a headphone jack and a microphone jack.

"The dual storage on Q21 combines capacity and speed rarely seen on laptops of this dimension," the press release stated. "Its mSATA SSD grants a generous space up to 512 GB for seamless data transmission while the hard disk drive supports a whopping capacity up to 1 TB for data storage. You can now back up your system even without access to cloud storage or external devices."

The laptop is available now. However, the company doesn't provide a starting price, yet expects to see an extremely affordable price with the version sporting Windows 8.1 with Bing. There will also be models that have Windows 8.1 (without Bing) as well.
