This puts it in direct competition with the Asus ZenFone 5 which has been enjoying quite a run on Flipkart since it was launched last month.

The introduction of this device comes just days after its beefier cousin called the Panasonic Eluga U was launched in the country. Comparatively, the new handset grabs slightly low-end specs. Its 5-inch IPS display offers visuals in an FWGA resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.

This dual SIM smartphone runs the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, quite plainly ignoring the trend among manufacturers to present buyers with the latest version of Google’s mobile OS. The Panasonic Eluga A is fueled by a quad core Snapdragon 200 processor which is provided assistance by 1GB worth of RAM and an Adreno GPU.

Powering the handset from within is a 2000mAh battery which keeps it going between charges. The Eluga A features an 8MP camera on its rear surface, whereas a 1.3MP snapper sits on its front surface. Its 4GB of onboard storage is complemented by a microSD card slot for memory expansion.
