Google's Nexus 8 tablet, codenamed Volantis, could be coming before the end of the year, according to a leaked document.
Indian import/export tracking site Zauba listed a shipment of two prototype Nexus 8 devices on a shipping manifest – the second time the device has cropped up in India since the end of June.
There had been speculation that HTC will be manufacturing the Nexus 8, despite the last two tablets being made by Asus.
However, in another twist to the tale, the Zauba manifest lists the maker as LG. The value of the device is listed as 16,649 Indian Rupees per unit, equivalent to about £161.
While the manifest doesn't say to whom the device has been delivered, its country of origin is apparently the USA.
The appearance of the device on Zauba indicates the Nexus 8 could be released before the end of the year.
Indeed, it's thought the launch of the new tablet is likely to be in autumn, when Android 5 - aka Android L - is expected to arrive. Google previously released a Nexus device at the same time as a major Android update.
Irrespective of who makes it, the Nexus 8 is expected to feature an Nvidia 64-bit Tegra K1 chipset, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB or 32GB of internal memory.
An 8-megapixel camera is anticipated on the rear of the device, with a 3-megapixel camera on the front.
